Painting Beyond A Canvas

One of my favorite things about being an artist is that creativity doesn’t like to stay in neat little boxes. It wanders; it experiments. It can combine with curiosity and lead the way through an artistic journey. Lately, these concepts have been leading me far beyond traditional canvases.

At Artsy Bee, I’ve been joyfully trying new mediums and unexpected items to paint on to let curiosity guide my brush. Shoes have become tiny traveling canvases, ready to walk out into the world carrying color, stories, and a bit of everyday magic. Belt bags have turned into wearable art, painted with care and inspired by nature’s quiet details. And affirmation cards? Those are little pockets of kindness; small handwritten and hand-painted moments meant to be held, read, shared.

There’s something especially exciting about creating art on pieces that become part of someone’s daily life. These aren’t just things to hang on a wall; they’re meant to move, to be used, to be loved. Each new surface brings its own personality and challenge, and I adore learning how paint behaves differently on materials beyond formal artistry.

Trying new mediums reminds me that art is meant to be playful and imperfect. Painting on shoes, belt bags, cards, and more allows me to take your ideas, words, favorite colors, and meaningful symbols and turn them into something truly one-of-a-kind. Whether it’s a wearable piece, a gift of encouragement, or a daily reminder of something good, each new design is created intentionally and with everyday use in mind.

My studio lately feels a little extra alive with the warmth of the unseasonably warm winter and the excitement of showing you all the new things that have inspired my handiwork. At the heart of it all, this exploration is about joy and following inspiration wherever it leads and sharing that joy with others. As Artsy Bee continues to grow, so will the materials, the ideas, and the magic that comes from saying yes to something new.

And when I get some more of my seemingly mile-long, forever growing, chaotic to-do list completed, I have some big "behind the scenes" projects that I am more than thrilled to share with you all. Until then, I will just continue to leave you hanging with your own curiosity. As always, thank you for continuing this journey, supporting me, and finding excitement in my artwork.
